Dear Peck Pirates and Parents,

As we are all well aware, the Oxford community has suffered a terrible tragedy, and this has struck a chord as it is close to home.

We want students to feel safe at school. PCS offers many programs to encourage youth and teen mental health, and this has been a focus of our district for the past several years. We have added new services and staff to help with this, and we are blessed to have two social workers and a full-time counselor on our staff five days a week in our small district.

That being said, we hope that you can help address fears and concerns at home and help us send the message that we promote safety, take concerns seriously, and do our very best to make Peck Schools a great, SAFE place to be. Our staff is always on hand to help students who need help or are struggling.

It must also be said that any threat, whether a "copy-cat" or not will be treated as credible.  We are working with our attorneys and local law enforcement to make sure that behavior is not tolerated.  Under Michigan law, anyone who commits a False Report or Threat of Terrorism is subject to penalties that include 20 years and/or $20,000 as well as reimbursement for expenses incurred from the violation. Likewise, using a computer to commit a crime in certain instances also contains a 20-year maximum penalty. Please be aware that there will be an increased presence of local and county law enforcement officials on all Sanilac County school campuses beginning tomorrow morning.

In solidarity with Oxford High School, Peck will be changing its colors for one day, Monday, December 6,  to navy blue and gold to show the Wildcats that the Pirates are thinking of them and are supporting #OxfordStrong. This event is not mandatory in any way, but we welcome you to participate.
