Parents of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Social Studies students. I have had several students the last few weeks asking for test and assignments to be unlocked. Who says math is not fun? In Consumer Math, 7th graders had to create a game where they could collect data for a statistical question. In addition, their peers participated in these simple games. Data was collected and is now being organized for group presentations. It was interesting to see the creativity and/or simplicity of these games and how data can vary. Awesome job 7th grade.

Favorite Memory: "Quiz Bowl was always extremely fun. I always felt proud of contributing to the success of my team. Every meet was wonderful- whether it turned out to be a success or not- and I learned more pointless trivia than I ever could have imagined while participating in it. Although we will not be able to go to the state competition we qualified for this year, I will always keep my memories of it close."

Class of 2020 Spotlight: Ann Demaray (Salutatorian)
Future Plans: Attend SC4 in the fall of 2020, and through a partnership program with Ferris State University, complete a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
Favorite subject: Science
One memory/highlight: "A vivid memory that comes to my mind is the time that I hit my first home run. It was during my sophomore year while we were playing at Owen-Gage, there were already two outs and I was up to bat. I had two strikes on me and I was under so much pressure because I knew the pitcher was gonna pitch a changeup. I took a step out of the batter's box to look up at my coach and he gave me a reassuring smile and a thumbs up to calm me down. As I stepped back in the box I felt more confident. I waited for the pitch and when I hit the ball I just had this feeling and I knew that ball was gone. As I ran to first base I watched that ball soar over the fence in right-center. I kept running and when I reached third base my coach gave me a big high-five and he had the biggest smile on his face. The best part was when I reached home plate because my whole team was there waiting for me as they all cheered to congratulate me."

9th-11th graders, make sure you log onto Zoom tonight at 6:00 to chat with some of your teachers and other students. We will have some fun with a game and the winner gets a 10 dollar gift card! See you there! The link is in your newsletter!
